GSVC is a partnership between the Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School, London Business School, Indian School of Business, Thammasat University in Thailand, ESSEC Business School in France, Yale School of Management, ALTIS, Postgraduate School Business & Society of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy, Guanghua School of Managment in China, and a consortium of business schools in South Korea competing as the Social Venture Competition Korea (SVCK).

Step 1: Submit Executive Summary

Each Partner School manages their own submission process differently, so please pay close attention to the details below, or visit the GSVC Calendar.

January 20, 2010 Online Submission Deadline: If your team is based in US, Europe (non-French speaking), Africa or South America, please submit an executive summary via the You Noodle application by January 20, 2010.  The You Noodle application will be available by December 15, 2009. These submissions will go through the Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School or London Business School regional round.

To submit an entry –

  1. Become a member of You Noodle (at least one team member from each team has to become a You Noodle member), and join 'Global Social Venture Competition 2009-10' You Noodle group.
  2. One team member should fill out the executive summary application You Noodle form on behalf of the team. All future correspondence will be with this team member via the email address on their You Noodle profile.
  3. Please read the official rules and guidelines and upload the executive summary and resume book in the correct formats. Please be advised that we will not accept submissions that do not follow the official rules and guidelines.
  4. Click ‘Submit an Entry’ link to the right on the 'Global Social Venture Competition 2009-10' You Noodle group homepage.

Asia Entrant Teams should apply to one of the three Partner School Rounds:

Asia Regional Round at the Indian School of Business
Entrant teams from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan should apply to the Asia Regional Round.

  • November 30, 2009 - Optional Application and Executive Summary Submission
  • January 15, 2010 – Business Plan Submissions Due

South East Asia Round at Thammasat Business School, Thailand
Entrant teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and the Oceania should apply to Thammasat’s SE Asia Round.

  • January 8, 2010 – Executive Summary Submissions Due

China Round at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University
Entrant teams from China should apply by November 24, 2009* – Executive Summary Submissions Due

*if you missed this deadline, please submit your application directly to the Asia Regional Round at the Indian School of Business

French-Speaking Entrants

If you wish to submit a plan in French, you may do so via the ESSEC Business School Regional Round in France.

Step 2: Submit Full Business Plan for Regional Semi-Final Round

If you are invited to submit a full business plan, you will be contacted by the respective Partner School.  Each Partner School round has different submission deadlines, so please pay close attention to their submission dates and deadlines by visiting the GSVC Calendar.

Haas semi-finalists: For the semi-finals round you will need to submit a complete business plan, team resume booklet and we are strongly encouraging you to submit a 3 minute pitch video.

To submit these three documents, please re-enter your You Noodle application, click on ‘Manage Entry’ and upload additional documents. Please note : We only expect you to upload 3 additional documents for this round, and not to change or re-answer any of the application fields that you filled in during the executive summary round. Please review important semi-final round submission guidelines at http://www.gsvc.org/the_competition/official_rules_and_guidelines/ . The formatting and submission guidelines will be strictly enforced; if your team does not adhere to them, your entry will be disqualified.

Step 3: Submit Full Business Plan for Global Finals or SIA Finals Judging Round

If you are selected as a Global Finalist or SIA Finalist, you will be invited to re-submit your full business plan by April 6, 2010 to present on April 22 or 23, 2010 at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
