About GSVC
Haas School of Business
The Global Social Venture Competition was founded at UC Berkeley as the National Social Venture Competition in 1999, and the Haas School of Business continues to serve as the Managing Partner for the competition and host the Global Finals each year in April. At Haas, the GSVC is organized by a team of MBA students with support and sponsorship from the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership.
The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is an internationally recognized program and the primary locus at UC Berkeley for the study and promotion of entrepreneurship in management and new enterprise development; we serve everyone in the campus community with entrepreneurial interests. Our location at the Haas School of Business and strong reputation on campus allow us to connect business leaders with undergraduate and graduate students from many departments.
The Lester Center fosters teaching of successful entrepreneurship and innovation; encourages Berkeley students in the creation of new businesses; creates and disseminates knowledge on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance to the business and university communities; facilitates interaction between the entrepreneurial community and the university; and seeks collaborations and partnerships in support of its goals.
The Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership prepares next-generation leaders with the practical business skills to found, lead, manage and govern in the social sector, creatively innovate and collaborate across sectors, and create winning solutions that produce social impact.
